'Eli Stone' Actress Gets 'Mad' at NBC
Loretta Devine joins David E. Kelley pilot
Devine, who's coming off "Eli Stone" at ABC, has joined the cast of David E. Kelley's pilot "Legally Mad" at NBC, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her casting continues a long relationship she's had with Kelley; she was a regular on "Boston Public" and made guest appearances on "Ally McBeal," "Boston Legal" and "Picket Fences."
"Legally Mad" is about a young lawyer (British actress Charity Wakefield) who spurns bigger offers to join the band of eccentrics at her father's (Hugh Bonneville) firm. Devine will play one of them, an attorney who's seemingly always on the brink of a breakdown.
The cast also includes Kristin Chenoweth and Jon Seda.
Devine is the first "Eli Stone" regular to take another TV job following the show's demise. ABC still has a handful of unaired episodes in its pocket but hasn't said if or when they will air.
