Tim Robbins is writing, directing and producing the pharmaceutical drama

Josh Lucas has been cast in the lead in "Possible Side Effects," a Showtime drama pilot from Tim Robbins.

Written, directed and executive produced by Robbins, "Possible Side Effects" examines the pharmaceutical drug industry, focusing on the Hunts, the dysfunctional family behind a major drug concern.

Lucas will play Max, one of three Hunt brothers, who has to keep both the family and the family business together. In addition to starring, Lucas will also serve as producer.

Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Daniel Thomas will executive produce along with Robbins.

The "Side Effects" pilot will be shot in New York at some point in the fourth quarter. Robbins will not appear in the pilot.

Lucas' series credits include "Snowy River: The McGregor Saga" and the American version of "Cracker." He's better known for starring roles in features like "Sweet Home Alabama," "Glory Road" and "Poseidon." He'll next be seen in Michael Cuesta's thriller "Tell-Tale."
