Former 'Twin Peaks' star will play Christian Slater's wife

Christian Slater's double life-leading character in "My Own Worst Enemy" is getting a new better half.

Former "Twin Peaks" star Madchen Amick has joined the NBC series, where she'll play Slater's wife, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She takes over for Yara Martinez, who was initially cast in the role.

The show recently finished filming its first episode; it's unclear whether any reshooting will be necessary to account for the recasting. Also unclear is Amick's status on The CW's "Gossip Girl"; earlier in the summer she signed on to a guest role as a woman who strikes up an affair with the much younger Nate (Chace Crawford).

"My Own Worst Enemy," in which Slater plays a suburban guy who, unbeknownst to him, leads a double life as a spy, has also undergone some behind-the-scenes changes in recent days. Creator Jason Smilovic stepped away from the day-to-day running of the show in favor of "Alias" veteran John Eisendrath, though Smilovic will still be an executive producer and involved in the creative process.

Amick and Smilovic have worked together in the past; she had a recurring part on NBC's "Kidnapped" two seasons ago. Her other recent credits include CBS' very short-lived "Viva Laughlin" last year and the ABC sitcom "Freddie." She's also appeared on "Gilmore Girls," "ER" and "Dawson's Creek."
