'Late Night' host producing comedy pilot

NBC and Conan O'Brien are collaborating to create the "Man of Your Dreams."

The network has given a pilot order, contingent on casting, to a comedy pilot by that name from O'Brien's production company Conaco. Actor-writer Jay Lacopo ("The Third Wheel") is penning the script, the showbiz trade papers report.

"Man of Your Dreams" is a multi-camera comedy that focuses on a dog of a guy who puts his seduction skills to work in helping women whose romantic lives are in shambles. Lacopo and O'Brien will executive produce with Jeff Ross and David Kissinger.

O'Brien, who's slated to take over "The Tonight Show" in 2009, most recently produced "Andy Barker, P.I." for NBC. His company has also set up a number of pilots at NBC and other networks in the past few years, but none of them have made it to series.

Should "Man of Your Dreams" get picked up, it would mark a re-entry to the traditional, multi-camera comedy format for NBC. All of the network's current comedies are single-camera shows; the last stab at a multi-camera series, last season's "Twenty Good Years," lasted only four episodes.

Another multi-cam comedy, "The IT Crowd," was due for a midseason spot this year, but it has fallen by the wayside. NBC is also developing a remake of the Australian hit "Kath and Kim."
