TBS isn't ready for last call with "My Boys" just yet.

The comedy series will be back for a third season in 2009, TBS announced Tuesday (Oct. 7), meaning fans will get to see a resolution to the season two cliffhanger, in which Bobby (Kyle Howard) starts to have second thoughts about relationship with PJ (Jordana Spiro) -- just before he's about to marry another woman.

Like the recently finished second season, the new season of the show will run for nine episodes. It's scheduled to return in the first quarter of next year.

"['My Boys'] is that truly rare television combination of a talented cast with great chemistry, extremely smart and funny writing and outstanding production," Turner's original-programming chief Michael Wright says. "'My Boys' is a quality show with a quality audience that continues to make the case that Turner is a true broadcast substitute."

The second season averaged 1.5 million viewers per episode, an increase of a couple hundred thousand viewers over its first season. The show also performs reasonably well among its target audience of adults under 35.

Creator Betsy Thomas and the core cast, which also includes Jim Gaffigan, Reid Scott, Kellee Stewart, Michael Bunin and Jamie Kaler, are slated to return for the new season.
