MyNetwork Adds Three More Shows
Sean Young, ex-Miss Universe Torres set to star
LOS ANGELES --The three new shows -- "Art of Betrayal," "A Dangerous Love" and "Watch Over Me" -- are in contention to follow the network's debut dramas, "Desire" and "Secret Obsessions," which will run five nights a week for 13 weeks starting in September. Each of the new series has also signed a star: Sean Young for "Art of Betrayal," Maria Conchita Alonso for "A Dangerous Love" and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres for "Watch Over Me."
"The excitement surrounding the emerging genre of stripped dramas continues to build as we add 'A Dangerous Love,' 'Watch over Me' and 'Art of Betrayal' to our primetime slate," says Paul Buccieri, head of programming at Twentieth Television, whose parent News Corp. owns MyNetwork. "Maria, Dayanara and Sean each bring a high level of talent, presence and beauty to these three new arcs, and they will embody the gripping nature of their respective dramas."
In "Art of Betrayal," Young ("Blade Runner," NBC's "Kingpin") will play a woman whose husband leaves her for another woman. Two decades later, she puts in motion a plan to bring him down by grooming her two sons to marry his daughters.
"A Dangerous Love" is a Romeo-and-Juliet story about two young lovers from feuding families. Alonso, who guested on "Desperate Housewives" earlier this season, will play the matriarch of one of the families. "Watch Over Me" will star Torres as a woman caught in a love triangle between her fiance and the man he hires to protect her.
MyNetwork TV is made up of largely of former UPN or WB affiliates left out of the CW merger. It's signed up stations reaching about two-thirds of the country.
