'Momma's Boys' Get a Date on NBC

Ryan Seacrest-produced dating show bows in late October

NBC has given a premiere date to the Ryan Seacrest-produced dating show "Momma's Boys" -- and it apparently likes the show so much that a second season is ready to begin casting.

The show is scheduled to premiere at 9 p.m. ET Wednesday, Oct. 29, filling in a timeslot that was to be filled by "Deal or No Deal." That's later than originally planned; when NBC announced the show in April, it was slated for a late-summer debut.

In the show, three "possessive, yet loving" mothers will help their "complacent" sons pick potential mates from a pool of 32 single women. The women will, undoubtedly, include some that will appeal to the moms but not their sons and vice versa, thereby creating a healthy dose of made-for-TV conflict. Oh, and did we mention that the mothers will live with their sons for the duration of the show's six-week run?

Budding TV mogul Seacrest ("Keeping Up with the Kardashians") is executive producing "Momma's Boys" with Andrew Glassman ("Average Joe"). Eliot Goldberg and Grant Julian will be co-exec producers.

NBC must have liked what it's seen of the show so far, because it's already promoting casting calls for season two, both on the network's official site and in the press release announcing the premiere date. Casting sessions will take place starting this week in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Madison, Wis., and Louisville, Ky., among other places.
