NBC Is Looking for 'Momma's Boys'
Ryan Seacrest producing show in which mothers choose mates for their sons
The network has greenlit a reality series called "Momma's Boys," which takes the awkwardness of the home-visit episode of "The Bachelor" and builds an entire show around it. The show, executive produced by Seacrest and Andrew Glassman ("Average Joe"), is scheduled to premiere in late summer, following NBC's Olympics coverage.
The show will feature a group of mothers and their "complacent sons" -- just what every girl is looking for, no doubt -- living together with several potential mates. The moms will evaluate the best matches for their boys, and presumably comedy and drama will ensue.
"Anytime I make a decision either personally or professionally, I have to ask myself ... what would my mother say?" self-professed momma's boy Seacrest says. "She is the most important woman in my life and she is never short of opinions. This series throws mom right in the middle of all the drama. It's loud, it's wild and it's real."
The show is Seacrest's first producing effort for a broadcast network; the " American Idol" host is an exec producer of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and the upcoming Denise Richards series at E!, where his company has a first-look deal.
In addition to "Average Joe," Glassman's credits include NBC's "Three Wishes" and GSN's "Bingo America."
