Spelling Makes Reservation with Oxygen
Series will track Tori's transition from actress to innkeeper
The former "Beverly Hills, 90210" star and her husband, Dean McDermott, will be the subject of a six-episode reality series on the Oxygen network next year. Cameras will follow them as they, no kidding, take a run at operating a bed-and-breakfast in one of Southern California's wine-producing regions. The show is scheduled to premiere in spring 2007.
"Not only is Tori incredibly popular with television audiences, she's also constantly evolving and taking on new challenges, which makes for great television," says Deborah Beece, head of programming at Oxygen. "Tori and Dean are becoming first-time business owners and parents at the same time. We love that they are brave enough to make those transitions in front of a camera."
McDermott and Spelling met while filming a Lifetime movie, "Mind of Murder," last year. They got married in May, not long after finalizing divorces -- she from Charlie Shanian, he from Mary Jo Eustace. They're also expecting their first child together in the spring.
All this while trying to start their B&B, into which, the network says, Spelling has poured her life savings and the $800,000 she inherited from her TV-legend father, producer Aaron Spelling, upon his death earlier this year.
World of Wonder Productions ("Showbiz Moms and Dads," "Party Monster") will produce the currently untitled series for Oxygen.
Spelling starred as a fictional version of herself in a VH1 series called "So NoTORIous" earlier this year. Though the show earned generally positive reviews, VH1 opted not to order a second season. Her other credits, in addition to "90210" include the camp-classic TV movie "Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?," "Scream 2" and "Trick."
