ABC's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season

ABC's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season: Big Shots

Premieres: Thursday, Sept. 27
Airs: Thursdays at 10 p.m.

The Pitch: To borrow a line from the pilot, Men -- theyre the new women.

Four top executives (Michael Vartan, Joshua Malina, Dylan McDermott and Christopher Titus) have the world at their fingertips -- and all the same problem us working stiffs have: fidelity, fractured relationships with exes and kids, power grabs at the office. But hey, at least they have each other.

What They Got Right: McDermott, playing the divorced head of a cosmetics company, has fun with his role as the groups designated rogue, and Malina and Titus each have scenes where they can show off their comic chops.

Whats Oh, So Wrong: Theres precious little to root for here, as all four lead characters are either jerks or, in Vartans case, extremely mopey. A lot of the attempts at comedy feel forced, including McDermotts involvement with a transsexual prostitute (one of two such subplots in ABC pilots this year). And that line quoted above just makes us cringe.

Recommended If ...: Youre a big fan -- like a really, really big fan -- of any of the four leads.
