NBC's New Shows for the 2006-07 Season

Midseason Drama

Premise: An eccentric detective communicates with the dead victims in his cases.

First Impressions: Star Jeff Goldblum makes his typically quirky approach to characters work here, given the titular cop's penchant for conversing with the deceased. Luis Guzman is a great foil for Goldblum, and there's a nice L.A. noir vibe to the piece as well. But we can't help wondering if there aren't enough talking-to-dead-people shows on TV already.
