The CW's New Shows for the 2006-07 Season

The CW's New Shows for the 2006-07 Season: Runaway
Drama

Premise: A man wrongfully accused of murder packs up his family and moves them to Iowa under assumed names. Things become dangerous, though, when both the law and the real killer begin sniffing around.

First Impressions: This mashup of family drama and crime thriller could work, provided that its creators keep a balance between the two elements and dont stretch our credulity too far with reasons to keep the fugitive clan on the run. Donnie Wahlberg and Leslie Hope are both underrated actors, and the central father-son relationship looks like its handled pretty well too. Well be lamenting Everwood for a while, but The CW could have done far worse with its de facto replacement.

Stars: Donnie Wahlberg (Boomtown), Leslie Hope (24), Dustin Milligan (The Butterfly Effect 2), Sarah Ramos (American Dreams), Nathan Gamble, Susan Floyd, Karen LeBlanc

Studio: Sony Pictures Television

Producers: Darren Star (Sex and the City), Ed Zuckerman (Law & Order)
