More Guests Join 'Nip/Tuck'
Rosie O'Donnell, Portia de Rossi set for FX show
The folks at "Nip/Tuck" sure do know how to build a steady stream of chatter for their series. The past week has brought news of pay raises for the show's leads and a steady stream of casting news, which continued Wednesday with the announcement that former "Arrested Development" star Portia de Rossi will recur on the show and Rosie O'Donnell will reprise her role as lottery winner Dawn Budge.
De Rossi, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will appear in several episodes as a "manipulative lesbian mother" who brings her teenage daughter to Drs. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) for plastic surgery. She joins a list of guest stars for the coming season, the show's fifth, that includes Oliver Platt, Paula Marshall and Lauren Hutton.
In addition to "Arrested," de Rossi's credits include "Ally McBeal" and the feature films "Cursed," "Stigmata" and "The Night We Called It a Day."
News of O'Donnell's return, meanwhile, comes courtesy of "Access Hollywood," which reports that Dawn Budge will become involved with Platt's character, a TV producer who hires Sean and Christian as consultants for one of his shows.
O'Donnell appeared in two episodes of "Nip/Tuck" last season, playing a woman who hit it big in the lottery and was casting about for ways to class up herself and her family. There was talk for a time of her character getting a spinoff, which didn't happen.
