MTV says show's eighth season will be its last

The allegedly final season of "Punk'd" will premiere Tuesday, April 10 -- three days after the whole thing has already aired.

While MTV is making the show's eighth season part of its regular Tuesday lineup later in the spring, it will also give devoted fans of the celebrity prank genre an early look at all eight episodes on Saturday, April 7. The "Sneak Peek Marathon" kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

Among the targets of Ashton Kutcher and his merry band of mischief-makers this time out are Oscar winner Hilary Swank, NBA legend Magic Johnson, "Lost" star Evangeline Lilly and Hayden Panettiere of "Heroes." We say that this is "allegedly" the final season because Kutcher and MTV first said they were done more than three years ago, but five seasons have aired since then.

It appears, though, that the network and Kutcher might be serious this time, as the "Beauty and the Geek" producer and former "That '70s Show" star will host a "Punk'd Awards" tribute to the best in celebrity meltdowns in June.

"Punk'd" will premiere at 9 p.m. ET April 10, leading off a programming block that also includes "Scarred," "Real World/Road Rules Inferno" and "Living Lahaina."
