Julianna Magulies vehicle set for midseason

Newly minted Emmy nominee Aidan Quinn has booked a key recurring role on FOX's "Canterbury's Law."

Quinn will play Matt Furey, husband of Julianna Margulies' eponymous Elizabeth Canterbury. The character is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney turned a law professor after his son goes missing in an unsolved tragedy.

The role of the estranged husband was played by Linus Roache in the original pilot, but Roache left to take a gig on NBC's "Law & Order."

According to FOX's always fungible long-term scheduling plans, "Canterbury's Law" is slated Thursday nights starting in January at some point.

Earlier this summer Quinn picked up his second career Emmy nomination for his work on HBO's "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee." His TV credits include NBC's short-lived "The Book of Daniel" and an arc on "Third Watch," while he's been seen on the big screen in films like "Practical Magic," "Legends of the Fall" and "Desperately Seeking Susan."
