'War at Home' veteran will play a government agent

Most recently seen playing a criminal on NBC's "My Name Is Earl," Michael Rapaport will go to the other side of the law for a dramatic turn on FOX's "Prison Break."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rapaport will join the cast of "Prison Break" as a regular, playing a government agent "who has an interesting offer for Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and his brother (Dominic Purcell)."

Despite a steady viewership drop in recent seasons, "Prison Break" was renewed for a fourth installment back in March. Production on the new season begins in Los Angeles later this month.

Rapaport has a long history with FOX. The "Beautiful Girls" and "Higher Learning" actor was a regular for several seasons of "Boston Public" and then toplined the network's sitcom "The War at Home" for two seasons. He starred in CBS' comedy pilot "Fugly" last development season.
