The ubiquitous Reege will cameo in September episode

The omnipresent Regis Philbin will cross paths with the omnivorous Marshall Eriksen on " How I Met Your Mother" this fall.

Reege, who currently hosts CBS' "Million Dollar Password" in addition to his morning show "Live with Regis and Kelly," will make a guest appearance on the CBS comedy's second episode of the season, scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29. He films his part next week.

As with most of his cameos, Philbin will be playing himself. He'll run into a "burger-mad" Marshall ( Jason Segel), who's on a quest to find the place where he ate the first hamburger he ever had in New York.

"How I Met Your Mother" is the second guest spot Philbin has booked for the start of the fall season. He and "Live" co-host Kelly Ripa will also pop up on the season premiere ABC's " Ugly Betty" a few days before his CBS appearance.

Philbin is the Guinness world record holder for most camera time on television, having spent more than 15,000 hours being beamed into people's homes over his long career. He's also a Daytime Emmy winner for best talk-show host and earlier this year was given the lifetime achievement award at the Daytime Emmys.
