Rob and Amber, Yet Again
'Survivor' couple doing show for Fox Reality
LOS ANGELES -- We've seen them meet, watched him propose and looked on as they raced around the world before exchanging vows, with camera crews trailing them every step of the way.So now that Rob and Amber Mariano are at a crossroads in their 15-month-old marriage, they're inviting the cameras back into their lives. It only seems fitting for one of reality television's best-known couples.
Unlike their previous televised adventures -- various seasons of "Survivor," "The Amazing Race 7" and "Rob and Amber Get Married" -- their new show won't take place on CBS. Instead, Rob and Amber are turning to the Fox Reality channel for "The Rob & Amber Project."
"We pride ourselves on bringing original, unpredictable and exciting programming to reality fans who just can't get enough," says David Lyle, COO of Fox Reality. "The show, like Rob and Amber themselves, will embrace the spirit of our network. We are proud they chose Fox Reality for their first reality show outside the broadcast world."
The 10-episode series, scheduled to premiere in January, will follow the couple as they deal with Rob's ambition to use the couple's "Survivor" and "Amazing Race" winnings in his quest to become a professional poker player. The idea doesn't sit all that well with Amber, we're told.
The show's cameras will capture Rob as he tries to break onto the poker circuit and the couple as they hash out whether this is really a good idea. Rob is also one of the producers of the show, along with Linda Ellman (Court TV's "On Native Soil") and Rob George ("The Ultimate Poker Challenge").
Fox Reality, which launched in May 2005, is available in about 20 million homes.
