Robert Rodriguez, Rose McGowan Shopping Women's Prison Pilot
'Women in Chains!' is being pitched to a variety of networks
The good folks at AintItCool.com first broke the story that the spec script by Josh Miller and Mark Fortin is being sent around to a variety of networks with Rodriguez and McGowan's names attached.
The "Charmed" star would play one of five shackled women who make up the center of the violent drama, which owes no small debt to the women-in-prison exploitation classics of the '70s. AintItCool promises mud wrestling, sadistic guards and cafeteria hosedowns.
Rodriguez and McGowan, now reportedly engaged, first worked together on "Planet Terror," another homage to a '70s exploitation genre.
The news of the circulating "Women in Chains!" pilot comes as HBO is also moving forward on "Bad Girls," an adaptation of the British female prison drama. Last fall FOX was also said to be moving forward on a "Prison Break" spin-off set in a women's prison.
