Sanz: I'm Still On 'SNL'
Cast member pooh-poohs reports of his departure
If that's the case, no one has told Sanz yet. "I haven't been approached with anything that's led me to believe I won't be back," he tells the Chicago Sun-Times.
Rumors have been flying this week about which cast members may be on their way out as "SNL" enters its 32nd season. One story had Sanz, Chris Parnell and Kenan Thompson leaving, while others have mentioned Will Forte and Maya Rudolph -- who, according to the New York Post, might leave of her own accord -- on the way out.
We know for sure that Tina Fey and Rachel Dratch, who are now both involved in NBC's prime-time comedy "30 Rock," have left the show. "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels has also said the show is facing some sizable budget cuts, which has helped fuel speculation that the cast -- there were 16 regulars last season -- would be streamlined.
NBC isn't commenting on any of it. Sanz doesn't quite know what to make of the speculation: "I think some executives leaked a bunch of bulls***," he tells the Sun-Times.
If "Saturday Night Live" does want him back, though, he'll be happy to oblige. "I definitely enjoy the job and would like to stick with it," he says. "It's fun, and there will be a lot of change, which could be a little exciting."
