Former 'Buffy' star is considering a return to TV

Former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar may be lured back to television for a project at HBO.

Gellar, who has worked primarily in films since "Buffy" left the air in 2003, is attached to a half-hour pilot at the cable network called "The Wonderful Maladys," about three adult siblings in New York. Charles Randolph ("The Interpreter") is writing the show, Variety reports.

The show centers on the sometimes-messy lives of the three siblings, whose parents died when they were young and have therefore relied on each other growing up. Randolph tells the trade paper he wrote the script with Gellar in mind, and that her character has "a kind of zealous immaturity -- like a drug addict with a to-do list."

Randolph, who also wrote the 2003 film "The Life of David Gale," and Gellar would serve as executive producers of the show should it get picked up. Brillstein Entertainment Partners is also involved.

Gellar's movie credits include the two "Grudge" films, "Southland Tales," "Cruel Intentions" and "The Return." She has two films, "Possession" and "Veronika Decides to Die," due for release in 2009.
