34-year-old Brad Womack will try his hand at finding love on national TV

LOS ANGELES -- When ABC's "The Bachelor" returns next month, 34-year-old Texas boy Brad Womack will be the one looking for love.

He might not be a cowboy, but Womack's resume could be cribbed from romance novels. Born in Atlanta, his family moved to Livingston, Texas when he was 12. After a year of college, he left school to work in oil fields not only in his home state, but Louisiana, North Dakota and California as well. He now lives in Austin, Texas and along with his two married brothers is the co-owner of four local bars.

The show is already sticking him with the label of "'The Bachelor's' own McSteamy," while also stressing that he is "sincere about his search and optimistic that he will find the woman who could become his wife."

Although its previous 10 outings have been limited in making lasting matches, "The Bachelorette" has had a tad more success. Two weeks ago, the first "Bachelorette" Trista Rehn and her poetry-writing, fire-fighting husband Ryan Sutter -- who she met on the show -- had their first child.

The new season of "The Bachelor" will premiere Monday, Sept. 24 at 9:30 p.m. ET with a special 90-minute episode.
