FX Cashes Strong 'Riches' Ratings
The series, which stars Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard as Irish Traveler con artists who set down roots in suburbia, drew 3.8 million viewers. That's a little better than the cable channel's most recent series debut, "Dirt," which scored an audience of 3.4 million people in January.
Just about two-thirds of the audience -- 2.52 million people -- fell into the adults 18-49 demographic. That number puts "The Riches" second only to "The Shield" in its delivery of the key advertising demo among series premieres on FX.
Breaking the demos down even further, about 1.3 million viewers fell into the adults 18-34 subset. That puts "The Riches" about even with "Dirt" for the top premiere in FX history by that that measure.
The critically acclaimed show is the first original series FX has launched on Monday nights. It led all cable entertainment shows (excluding USA's "WWE Raw") for the night in adults 18-49. An encore of the premiere at 11 p.m. drew an additional 1.35 million viewers.
