Although his "Grey's Anatomy" character's love life is a big deal on television, T.R. Knight doesn't want the public to focus on that in his real life.

The 33-year-old actor, whose initials stand for Theodore Raymond, has confirmed that he's gay, unlike his lovelorn character George O'Malley, who has a weakness for the ladies.

"I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I'd like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there," says Knight. "While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

On the hit ABC drama, Knight plays an intern who nursed an unrequited crush on roommate and fellow intern Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and was recently dumped by Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) for being a rather wishy-washy boyfriend.

Knight is a theater-trained actor who has also made guest appearances on "Frasier," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "CSI."
