Tracey Ullman Comes To Showtime in March
'State of the Union' will premiere after 'The Tudors' on March 30
Showtime has set a March premiere for "Tracey Ullman's State of the Union," a new sketch comedy show from the Emmy-winning performer."State of the Union" is being presented as a limited series, with the first of five half-hour episodes kicking off on Sunday, March 30 at 10 p.m. ET.
That sets the new Ullman series, in which she plays a number of different characters in presenting a day in the life of America, up to premiere after the second season launch of "The Tudors" in a new 9 p.m. ET time slot.
In addition to playing original characters, Ullman's assortment of impersonations ranges from A-list stars like Cameron Diaz and Renee Zellweger to politicians like Nancy Pelosi to odder celebs like David Beckham and Tony Sirico.
"I have always loved Tracey Ullman ever since I was a young development executive at Fox when she was doing the original 'Tracey Ullman Show,'" says Showtime Entertainment President Robert Greenblatt. "She is a one-of-a-kind comedienne and sketch comedy performer, a true artist. We are so proud to bring her to Showtime in a completely new show that will again showcase what she does best, and in this case, she will be looking at the wide cross-section of Americans and both celebrating us and sending us up."
