Sci Fi Opens 'Warehouse 13' in 2009
New series stars Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly and Saul Rubinek
Sci Fi Channel has picked up its original drama series "Warehouse 13," ordering 11 hours including the previously produced two-hour pilot, it was announced Friday, Sept. 19."Warehouse" centers on two Secret Service agents who are shunted off to South Dakota after saving the President's life, to monitor the secret Warehouse 13, where the U.S. government has deposited all of the strange artifacts, relics and supernatural objects it's stumbled across over the centuries. Its caretaker Artie (Saul Rubinek) charges Myka (Joanne Kelly) and Pete (Eddie McClintock) to keep an eye on the stuff and also to track down anything that has gone missing, aided by the fact that usually something paranormal or supernatural occurs to indicate that an AWOL object has got amok.
"'Warehouse 13' is an exciting, imaginative, fun, adventure show with an amazing team that will continue to broaden our audience," says Mark Stern, the network's exec VP of original programming. "It is a perfect companion series to Eureka which is a proven success and currently SCI FI's most watched original series."
Production will begin this February in Toronto for a July 2009 premiere.
