Nascar Cleans the Ratings Track on Sunday
FOX easily wins households and demos
LOS ANGELES -- Fast National ratings for Sunday, May 28, 2006Fans of Nascar may be fans year round, but when it comes to TV ratings, it doesn't hurt that the official TV season is over. The racing sport topped households on Sunday night with a 5.0 rating/10 share. CBS was second with a 4.5/9, followed by ABC, 3.9/8; NBC, 3.5/7 and The WB, 1.2/2.
A 3.0 gave FOX the edge among 18 to 49-year-olds as well, followed by ABC's 2.0, CBS' 1.5, NBC'2 1.2 and The WB's 0.7.
FOX started things off at 7 p.m. with a 4.9/11. CBS was a close second, thanks to a 4.8/11 for "60 Minutes." ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" managed a 3.6/8, while a two-hour "Dateline" averaged a 2.8/6 for NBC from 7 to 9 p.m. A double dose of "Reba" averaged a 1.2/3 for The WB.
CBS moved up to the top slot at 8 p.m., courtesy of a "Cold Case" repeat, 5.1/10. FOX slipped to second and ABC held onto third with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 3.5/7. NBC stayed in fourth and The WB switched from comedy to "Charmed," 1.2/2.
FOX was back on top at 9 p.m. with a 5.2/10. NBC shot up to second place with "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 4.2/8. CBS slid to third with a reairing of the movie "We Were Soliders" averaging out a 4.1/8 for the rest of the night. In fourth place, ABC's "Desperate Housewives" managed a 4.0/7, while The WB's second episode of "Charmed" for the night mustered a 1.3/2.
ABC finished the night in the top spot with a "Grey's Anatomy" repeat, 4.7/9. NBC's "Crossing Jordan," 4.5/9, was good enough for second and CBS finished its movie.
