CBS, FOX Split Thursday
Eye's reruns solid; 'Smarter' gets narrow demo win
A night of reruns on CBS performed well enough to grab an overall ratings win Thursday, while FOX edged NBC for the top spot among adults 18-49.
CBS averaged a 7.5 rating/12 share for the night, beating out FOX's 6.4/10. NBC and ABC tied for third in households at 4.9/8, with NBC drawing a few more total viewers. The CW trailed with a 1.3/2.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 3.2 rating just beat NBC's 3.1 for the lead. CBS took third at 2.6, followed by ABC, 2.4, and The CW, 0.7.
FOX won the 8 p.m. hour with "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?," 6.5/10. A new "Ugly Betty" earned a 6.2/10, holding off the 5.8/9 for a "CSI: NY" rerun on CBS. The first of two "Chuck" episodes on NBC delivered a 4.4/7. The CW was several points back with a "Smallville" rerun.
A "CSI" rerun, 8.7/13, moved CBS into the lead at 9 p.m. Another hour of "Are You Smarter" drew a 6.3/10 for FOX. "The Celebrity Apprentice" came in third for NBC with a 5.8/9 (and led the hour in adults 18-49). ABC dipped to fourth with a "Grey's Anatomy" rerun, while a "Supernatural" repeat on The CW posted a 1.2/2.
"Without a Trace" (8.1/14) kept CBS on top at 10 p.m. NBC's second "Chuck" scored a 4.5/8 to finish ahead of ABC's "Big Shots," 3.6/6.
