'American Idol' Makes It a Trifecta Thursday
Results show boosts 'Lyrics,' wins night
Three nights of "American Idol" meant three straight ratings wins for FOX, with the last of those coming Thursday.
FOX averaged a 10.3 rating/16 share for the night to beat second-place CBS, 7.7/12, by a comfortable margin. ABC took third with a 5.3/8. NBC's 4.0/6 was good for fourth, and The CW trailed with a 1.8/3.
The adults 18-49 crown also went to FOX, which scored a 6.6 rating in the advertisers' favorite demographic. ABC, 3.4, edged CBS, 3.3, for second. NBC averaged 2.5 and The CW 1.2.
The "American Idol" results show earned a 13.4/21 for FOX at 8 p.m. "Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites," 7.3/11, put CBS in second for the hour. A repeat of last week's "Lost" was third for ABC, topping the 2.9/5 for an hour of "My Name Is Earl" on NBC. The CW aired a "Supernatural" rerun.
In a tight race at 9 p.m., a new "Lost" (7.7/12) led the hour in total viewers (13.5 million) and adults 18-49. FOX's "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 7.2/11, finished second in viewers even though a "CSI" rerun on CBS had a slightly better household rating. "The Celebrity Apprentice" drew a 5.2/8 for NBC, and a new "Supernatural" scored a 2.0/3 for The CW.
CBS took over at 10 p.m. thanks to "Without a Trace," 7.9/13. ABC's "Eli Stone," 4.6/8, beat out NBC's "Lipstick Jungle," 4.0/7, for second.
