FOX Rings Ratings 'Bells' Wednesday
'Idol' big, but 'Wedding' premiere takes big drop
FOX won Wednesday's ratings race on the back of "American Idol," but a lot of those viewers failed to stick around for the premiere of "The Wedding Bells."
For the night, FOX averaged a 12.3 rating/19 share among households. CBS finished second at 7.4/12, well ahead of ABC, 5.3/8, and NBC, 5.1/8. The CW brought up the rear with a 2.8/4.
FOX also ruled the adults 18-49 crowd with an 8.2 rating. ABC, 3.5, finished second in the key ad-sales demographic, beating out CBS' 3.2. NBC averaged 2.4 and The CW 1.8.
Performances by the top eight women on "American Idol" delivered a 16.7/26 at 8 p.m. CBS was second for the hour with "Jericho," 5.4/8. NBC's "Dateline" took third, beating out "George Lopez," 4.0/6, and an "According to Jim" rerun, 3.6/6, on ABC. "America's Next Top Model" drew a 3.0/5 for The CW.
CBS moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with a "Criminal Minds" rerun, 9.0/14. The debut of "The Wedding Bells" bled most of its lead-in to finish at 7.9/12. "Crossing Jordan" scored a 5.3/8 on its new night for NBC. A new "Jim," 4.8/7, and "In Case of Emergency," 4.1/6, kept ABC in fourth. The CW reran the "Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll" premiere.
At 10 p.m., a "CSI: NY" rerun, 7.8/13, on CBS edged ABC's "Lost," 7.6/12, for the top spot. "Medium" came in at 5.8/10 for NBC.
