FOX's Kids Beat CBS' 'Brother' Thursday
'Fifth Grader' outrates 'Big Brother' premiere
FOX snagged a ratings win Thursday with reruns of its game shows, despite facing original unscripted competition on CBS.
For the night, FOX averaged a 5.1 rating/9 share. CBS finished second with a 4.8/9. ABC, 3.0/6, came in third, beating out NBC's 2.4/4. The CW trailed with a 1.3/2.
FOX also led among adults 18-49 with a 2.6 rating, narrowly beating CBS' 2.4. NBC took third with a 1.4, followed by ABC, 1.3, and The CW, 0.8.
A repeat of "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" earned a 4.9/9 for FOX at 8 p.m., edging out the premiere of "Big Brother 8," 4.8/9, on CBS. An "Ugly Betty" rerun, 2.9/5, put ABC in third. "My Name Is Earl" and "30 Rock" were fourth for NBC. The CW got a 1.3/2 from its "Smallville" repeat.
A second "Fifth Grader" improved to 5.4/9 at 9 p.m. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" rerun, 3.5/6, finished second in households, but "Pirate Master" (3.4/6) brought a few more total viewers to CBS. NBC stayed in fourth with "The Office," 2.8/5, and "Scrubs," 2.4/4. The CW held steady with "Supernatural."
CBS took the lead at 10 p.m. with "CSI," the night's most-watched show at 6.2/11. A "Men in Trees" rerun posted a 2.7/5 for ABC, while NBC's "ER" managed only a 2.1/4.
