'America's Got Talent' tops night by a wide margin

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008

NBC's summer flagship finally made it past the audition stage Tuesday, and the assembled "Talent" carried the network to a ratings win.

The Peacock's 6.4 rating/11 share easily won the night over CBS' 4.7/8. ABC took third with a 3.3/6, just ahead of FOX, 3.2/6. The CW pulled down a 0.7/1.

NBC also led among adults 18-49 with a 2.8 rating. ABC grabbed second in the demographic with a 2.1. CBS and FOX tied for third at 1.9, while The CW managed only a 0.4.

An "NCIS" rerun, 6.0/10, put CBS on top at 8 p.m. A "Wipeout" clip show drew a 4.3/8 for ABC, beating the 4.1/7 for "Celebrity Family Feud" on NBC. FOX got a 2.7/5 from a "Kitchen Nightmares" repeat. The CW went with "Beauty and the Geek."

"America's Got Talent," 7.4/12, moved NBC into the lead at 9 p.m. "Big Brother 10" earned a 4.2/7 for CBS. FOX's "House" repeat, 3.8/6, beat the finale of "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" on ABC. A "Reaper" encore scored a 0.7/1 for The CW.

"America's Got Talent" improved to 7.9/13 at 10 p.m. "Without a Trace," 4.0/7, came in second for CBS. "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" concluded with a 2.9/5.
