Another Easy Summer Thursday for CBS
"Big Brother" delivers a Jen-uinely fine night
A "Big Brother" elimination plus the usual procedurals gave CBS an easy Thursday night win.
Overall, CBS averaged a 6.5 rating/11 share, easily topping the 4.0/7 for second place FOX. ABC finished third on the night with a 3.0/5, followed by the 2.6/4 for NBC and The CW's 1.5/3.
CBS also won among adults 18-49, doing a 2.9 rating in the key demographic. FOX stayed second with a 2.1 rating, edging the 1.7 rating for NBC. ABC's 1.3 rating and the 0.8 rating for The CW tailed in the all important demographic.
At 8 p.m., viewers tuned in to "Big Brother" to watch the mercurial Jen get the boot, giving the show a 5.3/10 for the hour. FOX was second with an NFL preseason war between Jacksonville and Green Bay, which averaged 3.9/7 for the hour. ABC's "Ugly Betty" was third for the hour, nipping the 2.9/5 averaged by "My Name Is Earl" and "30 Rock" on NBC. The CW was fifth with the 1.5/3 for "Smallville."
CBS stayed first at 9 p.m. with the 7.3/12 for "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." The Packers and Jaguars stayed second with a 4.2/7 for the hour. ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" remained third with a 3.0/5, beating NBC's "The Office" and "Scrubs," plus "Supernatural" on The CW.
"Without a Trace" helped CBS close strong with a 6.8/12 in the 10 p.m. hour. ABC's "Boston Legal" had a 3.0/5 and beat "E.R." on NBC.
