ABC Goes Country on Monday
CMA Awards a winner on new network
Viewers didn't have much trouble finding the CMA Awards on their new network Monday, as they delivered a ratings win for ABC.
The Alphabet network averaged a 9.9 rating/15 share for the night, down some from last year's awards on CBS but the best of the night. CBS, 8.0/12, took second, and NBC was third at 7.4/11. FOX, 4.4/7, came in fourth, and The CW trailed with a 2.1/3.
ABC also led among adults 18-49 with a 5.4 rating. NBC, 4.8, took second in the demographic beloved by advertisers, topping CBS' 4.3. FOX averaged 2.7 and The CW 1.4.
The CMA Awards, celebrating their 40th year, scored a 9.6/14 for ABC at 8 p.m. NBC's "Deal or No Deal" was a solid second at 9.0/13. "How I Met Your Mother," 5.4/8, and "The Class," 4.9/7, put CBS in third. "Prison Break" scored a 5.1/8 for FOX, while The CW went with "Everybody Hates Chris" and "All of Us."
ABC stayed on top at 9 p.m. as the CMAs improved to 10.7/16. "Heroes" delivered an 8.4/12 for NBC, tying for second with CBS' "Two and a Half Men," 9.2/13, and "Old Christine," 7.4/11 (NBC had an edge in viewers). "Justice" kept FOX in fourth. "Girlfriends" and "The Game" averaged 1.9/3 for The CW.
"CSI: Miami," 10.6/17, claimed the lead for CBS at 10 p.m. The CMA Awards posted a 9.4/15, and NBC's "Studio 60" came in at 4.8/8.
