TV Ratings: '24: Redemption' Helps FOX Win Sunday
NBC's NFL coverage and ABC's American Music Awards are also competitive
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008.Fueled by NFL overrun and the triumphant return of Jack Bauer, FOX scored a rare Sunday win.
Overall, FOX averaged a 7.8 rating/12 share to top the competitive Sunday landscape. CBS was a close second with a 7.3/11, followed by the 6.8/11 for NBC and ABC's 6.3/10. Only The CW failed to generate much of an audience, doing a 0.4/1.
FOX also won among adults 18-49, doing a 4.6 rating in the key demographic. ABC moved up to second with a 4.3 rating, while NBC's 4.0 rating wasn't far behind. CBS was a distant fourth with a 2.6 rating, while The CW's 0.2 rating barely made a ripple.
At 7 p.m. FOX had a 9.5/15 for NFL overrun and post-game, nipping the 9.1/15 for CBS' "60 Minutes." NBC's football pregame was third, while ABC's red carpet for the American Music Awards drummed up only a 3.5/6. The CW' "In Harm's Way" had a 0.4/1 for the hour.
The 8 p.m. hour was extremely tight, with ABC's AMA coverage and NBC's NFL action both doing a 7.4/11, while the first hour of FOX's "24: Redemption" had a 7.3/11. CBS' "The Amazing Race" was fourth with a 6.2/9. The CW aired "Valentine, Inc," but nobody really watched.
The NFL game between the Colts and Chargers pushed NBC into first at 9 p.m. with a 7.9/12. ABC's AMAs were second, barely beating the 7.6/11 for "Cold Case" on CBS. FOX's "24" film was down to fourth, with a still-solid 6.8/10. The CW's "Easy Money" was fifth.
NBC's football won the 10 p.m. hour with a 7.9/13. ABC's AMA telecast closed with a 6.8/11 and CBS' "The Unit" had a 6.3/10 for third.
