TV Ratings: Wednesday 'Idol' Rolls
Second semifinal round delivers a big win for FOX
The bumping of "American Idol's" performance show to Wednesday this week had little effect on the show's ratings, as FOX once again cruised to a ratings win.
FOX drew a 13.8 rating/22 share for the night, drawing more than double the number of viewers (24.25 million to 10.86 million) of second-place CBS, 7.0/11. ABC and NBC tied for third in households at 4.2/7, with ABC drawing a few more viewers. The CW could only muster a 0.6/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, FOX's 8.9 rating beat everybody else combined. ABC and CBS tied for second at 2.7. NBC, 2.2, came in fourth, and The CW was way back with a 0.3.
The first hour of "American Idol" delivered a 13.4/21 at 8 p.m. "The Biggest Loser: Couples," 5.5/9, put NBC in second. Reruns of "Old Christine" and "Gary Unmarried" averaged 3.9/6 for CBS, beating the 3.3/5 for a "Lost" repeat on ABC. The CW aired a "Privileged" rerun.
"American Idol" improved to 14.2/22 at 9 p.m. "Criminal Minds" scored a solid 9.0/14 to move CBS into second. A new "Lost" earned a 5.9/9 for ABC. NBC slipped to fourth with "Life," 3.3/5, which was still way ahead of The CW's "90210" repeat.
CBS took over the top spot at 10 p.m. with "CSI: NY," 8.2/14. A "Law & Order" rerun posted a 3.9/7 for NBC, topping the 3.6/6 for "Life on Mars" on ABC.
