TV ratings: Decent start for 'America's Got Talent' Tuesday
CBS wins the night, though, as 'I'm a Celeb' drags NBC down
Fast National ratings for Tuesday, June 23, 2009Ratings for "America's Got Talent" fell compared to last year's debut, but the show still gave NBC some fairly solid numbers Tuesday.
They weren't solid enough, however, to win the night among total viewers. That honor went to CBS, which drew 9.06 million people and a 6.0 rating/10 share in households. NBC was close behind with a 5.5/10 and 8.96 million viewers. ABC was a distant third at 2.5/4. FOX finished fourth with a 2.3/4, and The CW trailed with a 0.8/1.
NBC did lead the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.6 rating. CBS took second with a 1.6. ABC, 1.3, came in third, followed by FOX, 1.2, and The CW, 0.5.
CBS dominated at 8 o'clock as an "NCIS" rerun scored a 7.0/13. The premiere of "The Superstars" drew a 3.0/6 for ABC, edging the 2.9/5 for "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here" on NBC. A "House" repeat, 2.2/4, was fourth for FOX. The CW aired a "90210" repeat.
"America's Got Talent," 6.2/10, moved NBC into the lead at 9. "The Mentalist" earned a 5.9/10 for CBS. FOX moved up to third with "Mental," 2.4/4, while ABC dropped back one spot with "The Superstars" and "Better Off Ted." The CW got a 0.9/2 from "Hitched or Ditched."
"America's Got Talent" improved to 7.3/13 at 10 p.m. CBS' "48 Hours Mystery" scored a 4.9/9 to finish second, well ahead of "Primetime: Family Secrets" (2.4/4) on ABC.
