ABC gets a demo win while CBS brings in more viewers

Fast National ratings for Monday, July 6, 2009

CBS and ABC split the ratings title Monday night, with the Eye drawing a bigger overall audience and the Alphabet network scoring a narrow win in the key adults 18-49 demographic.

CBS drew 7.6 million viewers and a 4.9 rating/9 share in households, beating ABC's 6.7 million and 4.5/8. NBC took third at 3.4/6. FOX, 2.4/4, finished fourth, and The CW trailed with a 0.6/1.

ABC led the 18-49 demo with a 2.3 rating, just beating CBS' 2.2. NBC's 1.3 was good for third, followed by FOX at 1.1. The CW was back of the pack with a 0.3.

"The Bachelorette," 5.0/9, put ABC on top at 8 o'clock. CBS finished second with "How I Met Your Mother," 3.6/7, and "Rules of Engagement," 3.5/6. A "Law & Order" rerun on NBC posted a 3.2/6, beating the 2.6/5 for "House" on FOX. The CW went with "One Tree Hill."

CBS moved into the lead at 9 thanks to "Two and a Half Men," 5.9/10, and "The Big Bang Theory," 5.2/9. "The Bachelorette" was a close second, improving to 5.5/9 in its second hour. "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," 3.4/6, kept NBC ahead of FOX and "Lie to Me." The CW got a 0.5/1 from "Gossip Girl."

"CSI: Miami," 5.7/10, easily won the 10 p.m. hour for CBS. "Dateline" earned a 3.6/6 for NBC, and "Here Come the Newlyweds" scored a 3.0/5 for ABC.
