Final performances of the summer season give FOX a win

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009

The final four performances on "So You Think You Can Dance" led FOX to a ratings win Wednesday -- even though it didn't win either hour it was on.

FOX's cumulative numbers, however -- 7.6 million viewers and a 4.7 rating/8 share in households -- were enough to win the night. NBC finished second with 6.4 million viewers and a 4.0/7. CBS (5.9 million, 4.1/7) was third overall, followed by ABC (5.1 million, 2.9/5). The CW trailed with 1 million viewers and a 0.8/1.

FOX led the adults 18-49 demographic by a pretty good margin with a 2.7 rating. ABC took second at 1.8, with FOX right behind at 1.7. CBS averaged 1.4 and The CW 0.5.

The hour-by-hour breakdown:

8 p.m.

ABC: "Wipeout" (7.8 million viewers, 4.3/8 households)
FOX: "So You Think You Can Dance" (7.3 million, 4.5/8)
NBC: "TV's 50 Funniest Phrases" rerun (4.8 million, 3.2/6) CBS: "Old Christine" rerun (3.8 million, 2.7/5)/"Gary Unmarried" rerun (3.9 million, 2.7/5)
The CW: "America's Next Top Model" rerun (1.1 million, 0.8/2)

18-49 leader: "Wipeout" and "SYTYCD" tied at 2.6

9 p.m.

NBC: "America's Got Talent" (10.1 million, 6.0/10)
FOX: "So You Think You Can Dance" (7.9 million, 4.8/8)
CBS: "Criminal Minds" rerun (6 million, 4.1/7)
ABC: "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" (3.9 million, 2.3/4)
The CW: "America's Next Top Model" rerun (926,000, 0.6/1)

18-49 leader: "So You Think You Can Dance" (2.8)

10 p.m.

CBS: "CSI: NY" rerun (7.7 million, 5.3/10)
NBC: "The Philanthropist" (4.4 million, 2.8/5)
ABC: "I Survived a Japanese Game Show" (3.6 million, 2.1/4)
