TV ratings: CBS catches a Tiger Sunday
Big upset in golf feeds viewers to primetime
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009Tiger Woods didn't win golf's PGA Championship on Sunday, but his upset loss in the final round kept enough viewers around to give CBS a prime-time ratings win.
CBS drew 7.8 million viewers and a 4.9 rating/9 share in households for the night. ABC finished second with 5.3 million viewers and a 3.3/6. FOX (4.1 million, 2.4/4) came in third, ahead of NBC (3.4 million, 2.1/4). The CW was well back with just under a million viewers and a 0.6/1.
CBS also led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.0 rating, edging FOX's 1.9. ABC came in third with a 1.4, followed by NBC, 0.9, and The CW, 0.3.
