Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Add to Favorites

Correctly answering 15 multiple-choice questions could net contestants $1 million on the half-hour quiz show that has enjoyed a long life span in America since being adapted from the popular British show with the same name. The show's format has changed through the seasons but the basics remain the same: answer trivia questions to win what could potentially end up being big bucks. There are safety nets along the way -- guaranteed amounts of money that can't be lost once a contestant reaches certain thresholds -- and contestants can quit at any time during the game, but going for the full million (minus Uncle Sam's cut) always carries a risk, including losing hundreds of thousands of dollars with an incorrect answer to the million-dollar question. Contestants also get lifelines -- which, like the game's format, have changed through the years -- to help them reach the top of the money tree.
