Pilots: 'Secret,' 'Single,' 'Ex' Casts Expand
Rachel Blanchard, Ken Marino and the immortal Eric Balfour are among the stars landing pilot work
Let's start with CBS, shall we?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bob Odenkirk ("Mr. Show"), Rachel Blanchard ("7th Heaven") and radio personality Phil Hendrie have joined "Mike Birbiglia's Secret Public Journal."
The comedy stars Mike Birbiglia as a version of himself, a stand-up comic living in Brooklyn with his girlfriend (Blanchard). The trade says that Odenkirk will play Birbiglia's older brother, while Hendrie will play his doctor.
The Ricky Blitt-scripted "Single White Millionaire," another CBS comedy, has landed Rick Peters ("Veronica Mars") and Brooke D'Orsay ("Happy Hour") for supporting roles.
The series stars "Daddy Day Camp" director Fred Savage as a 30-something millionaire looking to settle down. Peters will play one of the main character's best friends, with D'Orsay as the friend's wife.
On the CBS drama front, Alexandra Breckenridge ("Dirt") and Adam Rothenberg ("Misconceptions") will co-star in "Mythological Ex."
Based on the Israeli format, "Mythological Ex" focuses on a woman (Elizabeth Reaser) who goes to a psychic and learns that she's already dated the man she was supposed to marry, causing her to revisit past relationships. Rothenberg plays the friend and neighbor of the main character with Breckenridge as his girlfriend.
In addition, Mark Deklin ("Justice") and Eric Balfour ("Hawaii," "Sex, Love and Secrets," "Fearless," "Conviction," "Veritas: The Quest") will guest star in the pilot.
Over at FOX, Ken Marino and Brook Bloom have scored the lead roles in "Outnumbered," playing parents of three exceptional children.
Marino ("The State") has most recently been seen on The CW's "Reaper."
Bloom's credits include "CSI: Miami," plus guest appearances on shows from "Everwood" to "Without a Trace" to "'Til Death."
