Donny Osmond Lives 'American Dream'
Singer-actor will host ABC reality series
Osmond has signed on to host an unscripted show called "The Great American Dream Vote," in which people state their cases to have their wildest dreams come true and audience members grant or dash said dreams.
The network hasn't set an airdate for the show, which is produced by the "Bachelor" team of Mike Fleiss and Lisa Levenson.
In each episode, eight contestants will explain to a studio audience a lifelong desire, and why they think their dream deserves to come true. The studio audience will eliminate several contestants over the course of the show, with only two people left by the end of the episode.
Viewers at home will then get the chance to vote on which of the two finalists gets their dream fulfilled. Results will be revealed at the beginning of the next episode.
Osmond was a prime-time star on ABC some 30 years ago, as co-host of the variety show "Donny and Marie" with his sister. His long showbiz career also includes a number of albums, stints as a game- and talk-show host and, in recent years, a good deal of stage work, including a turn in "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway.
