Actors Flock to 'USA,' 'Atlanta' Pilots
Whitfield and Locke lead the latest casting rounds
"Atlanta" is a single-camera comedy written by Paul Reiser and features Leslie Bibb ("Popular") and Freddie Prinze Jr. ("Head Over Heels") as a woman and man who meet at a funeral and can't stop running into each other.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dondre Whitfield ("Jake in Progress") will play the best friend to Prinze's character, while Christine Woods will play Bibb's best bud.
Meanwhile, five actors have joined the cast of FOX's genre-bending half-hour primetime drama "Born in the USA."
The pilot focuses on the residents of a blue-collar soap opera. Tembi Locke ("Windfall") will play the mother to the teenage girl played by "American Idol" veteran Lisa Tucker. Jon Rowland ("As the World Turns") will play a young Catholic priest, while Rod Rowland ("Veronica Mars") will appear as a divorced couple.
Scarlett Chorvat ("The District") and Diego Serrano ("Time of Your Life") will play an engaged couple in the pilot, which comes from "American Idol" producers 19 Entertainment.
