Ever Carradine and Valerie Cruz are heading to cable roles

Sci Fi Channel's "Eureka" and Showtime's "Dexter" have signed actresses for a pair of recurring roles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ever Carradine is set for "Eureka" duty, while Valerie Cruz will make time for "Dexter."

The trade paper says Carradine will appear in at least eight episodes of the upcoming summer season of "Eureka," which premieres on July 29. Carradine will play the free-spirited sister of Colin Ferguson's Sheriff Carter.

Carradine landed a recurring role on FOX's "24" last fall, but due to the strike-caused production delays, it's unclear how much or how little her part remains in play. Other credits for actress include "Commander in Chief" and "Women's Murder Club."

Meanwhile, over on "Dexter," Cruz will play the wife of Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado. That high-profile role was recently filled by Jimmy Smits.

Cruz has been seen in "Hidden Palms" and "The Dresden Files," as well as the upcoming feature "La Linea."
