CBS Cans 'Stars': 'Secret Talents' Will Remain Secret
Episodes of '48 Hours Mystery' and then 'Shark' will fill the Tuesday 10 p.m. Black Hole
CBS premiered "Secret Talents of the Stars" on Tuesday (April 8) night and by Thursday morning the network was already announcing new plans for future Tuesdays.
That's what happens when your show starts with only 4.6 million viewers and then starts scaring viewers away with spectacles like George Takei singing "On the Road Again."
"Secret Talents" was hosted by John O'Hurley and featured Debbie Reynolds, Brian McKnight and Gavin Polone as judges. After-the-fact reviews for the lone episode were predictably harsh.
That leaves CBS with the chore of once again filling a Tuesday night 10 p.m. hour that has become a major problem for the network.
For the next two weeks, CBS will air installments of "48 Hours Mystery" before giving the difficult slot to new episodes of "Shark" starting on April 29. CBS' original plan had been to air "Shark" at 9 p.m. after first-run episodes of "NCIS," but instead the James Woods legal drama will go to 10 p.m. following repeats of "The Unit."
As for "Secret Talents of the Stars," it will just enter a one-and-done Hall of Fame that has already added NBC's "Quarterlife" and FOX's "Anchorwoman" in the past year.
