CBS' Zombie 'Babylon' for Baker
'Picket Fences' vet will deal with the undead
The network has landed "Picket Fences" star Kathy Baker for one of the lead roles in its comedic drama "Babylon Fields," which focuses on the difficulties one small town faces when its dead residents begin to be not-so-dead.
According to the industry trades, Baker and Amber Tamblyn will play a mother and daughter who have to deal with the abusive husband/father they butchered with an axe. Trust us -- you think it sounds funny til it happens to you.
Baker's recent credits include guest stints on "Nip/Tuck," "Medium" and "Gilmore Girls." She won three Emmys for her run on "Fences."
In other CBS casting news, Leslie Grossman ("Popular," "Itty Bitty Titty Committee") will join the ensemble of the untitled Scott Silveri comedy about the denizens of a popular all-night hangout.
Things are bleaker for FOX's comedy "Hackett," about a former Yale professor who ends up teaming high school in Ohio. The network apparently hasn't found the right leading man for the pilot and "Hackett" will be pushed back to midseason contention.
