Network greenlights two new shows

The Naked Trucker Show, an underground comedy favorite in Los Angeles for several years, will soon be getting a little more, uh, exposure.

Comedy Central has ordered six episodes of "Naked Trucker and T-Bones," a half-hour variety series based on the live show created by Dave "Gruber" Allen and David Koechner. The cable network has also picked up a partially improvised show called "Halfway Home," about a group of ex-cons living in a halfway house.

"Naked Trucker," which will debut this summer, will follow the Naked Trucker (Allen, "Freaks and Geeks") and his sidekick, T-Bones (Koechner, "Anchorman") to a truck stop each week as they fuel up and riff on life on the road. As the duo put it, "We are happy to feed Comedy Central's and, indeed, America's insatiable appetite for hobos, hillbillies, intellectuals, political non-conformists, free thinkers, free ballers and truckers."

"Halfway Home," which is scheduled to premiere early next year, stars Oscar Nunez ("The Office") as one of a group of ex-cons making the not-very-smooth transition from prison back into society. Kevin Ruf ("Fun with Dick and Jane"), Regan Burns ("Oblivious"), Jessica Makinson ("Joe Schmo 2") and Jordan Black ("Punk'd") also star.

"We've wanted to be in business with this cast for a long time and we've found the perfect setting," Comedy Central's Lauren Corrao says.

Ruf and Nunez are also executive producers of "Halfway Home," along with Jay Martel ("Strangers with Candy") and Damon Jones.
