CW Picks Up 'Chris,' Launches Online Streaming
LOS ANGELES --
"Everybody Hates Chris" will get to live out another year of adolescent angst.
The CW has picked up a full-season order of the critically acclaimed sitcom for the 2007-2008 season, it was announced Friday, Jan. 19.
"Under the creative guidance of Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi and performances from an incredibly talented cast, 'Everybody Hates Chris' has consistently proven itself to be one of the best comedies on television," says Dawn Ostroff, the network's president of entertainment. "Producing one great episode after another, this is a show that we want viewers to associate with The Cw. We couldn't be happier to bring it back for another season."
"Chris" inspired by comedian Chris Rock's childhood experience growing up in Brooklyn during the 1980s. Tyler James Williams stars as the awkward titular character who lives with his popular brother, precocious sister, penny-pinching father and put-upon mother.
"Chris" will also be one of the many shows that the CW is now streaming online at CWTV.com. The network's other Monday night sitcoms -- "All of Us," "Girlfriends" and "The Game" -- "One Tree Hill," "Veronica Mars," "Supernatural" and "Beauty and the Geek" will also be available free to viewers up to four weeks after their initial on-air telecast.
