Comedy Central to Roast Flavor Flav
Good luck finding something to mock
Comedy Central is taking the not-so-courageous step of mocking Flavor Flav in the network's upcoming "The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav."
The Roast will be taped in Los Angeles in July and will air on Sunday, August 12 at 10 p.m. ET. In keeping with Flavor Flav's life-long dedication to the environment, Comedy Central boasts this will be their first-ever carbon-neutral event.
"We only roast the ones we love –- and the world is clearly crazy about this guy," says Elizabeth Porter, senior vice president of specials and talent for Comedy Central. "This event will be full of surprises as Flavor Flav is going to experience a whole new kind of love in this Roast."
Born William J. Drayton Jr., the 47-year-old Flavor Flav served as Chuck D's hype man in the wildly influential ensemble Public Enemy. After falling out of favor, he resurrected his career with a slew of VH1 reality shows including "The Surreal Life," "Strange Love" and multiple installments of "Flavor of Live."
Roasters will be challenged to find ways of making fun of Flavor Flav, but they can probably touch on his alleged drug use, legion of children (seven acknowledged as of last count), relationship with Brigitte Nielsen or reviews for his 2006 self-titled solo album.
Joel Gallen, who produced and directed Comedy Central's recent roasts of William Shatner and Pamela Anderson, will executive produce.
